This Privacy Notice explains how RWriter ("RWriter," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you visit our website, use our browser extension, create an account, or use our AI writing and productivity features (collectively, the "Services"). We take privacy seriously and aim to handle personal information transparently. If you do not agree with this Notice, please stop using the Services.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide: Depending on how you use RWriter, we may collect your name, email address, account credentials or authentication identifiers, support messages, preferences, and other information you choose to provide.

Subscription and payment information: If you purchase a paid plan, our payment provider processes payment details. RWriter may receive limited transaction information such as payment status, plan, billing period, and transaction identifiers. We do not store full payment-card details on RWriter systems unless specifically designed and secured to do so.

Usage and device information: We may collect technical and usage information such as IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, language, referring page, timestamps, feature usage, diagnostic logs, and error reports. Cookies or similar technologies may be used where applicable.

Text, page, and voice content used for features: When you choose an RWriter feature—such as AI Reply, Ask Page, Summarize, Fix Grammar, rewriting, speech-to-text, or text-to-speech—the Service may process the text, selected content, webpage or email-thread context, prompt, transcript, or audio needed to perform that feature. The exact content accessed depends on the feature and the permissions you grant. Review the extension permissions and in-product explanations before enabling a feature.

2. How We Use Information

We may use information to create and secure accounts; authenticate users; verify subscriptions and enforce plan limits; provide requested AI writing, email-reply, summarization, grammar, speech, and related features; process payments; respond to support requests; troubleshoot, maintain, and improve the Services; detect abuse, fraud, and security incidents; communicate service updates; and meet legal obligations.

Marketing communications, where used, will be handled according to your choices and applicable law. You can opt out of promotional messages, although we may still send essential account, billing, security, or service communications.

3. How Content Is Processed by RWriter

RWriter's features may need the text you select or the relevant content visible on a webpage to complete your request. For example, an AI reply feature may process the email thread or message context you choose to use, while a summarization feature may process the page content you ask it to summarize.

Depending on the feature and configuration, submitted content may be sent to RWriter's backend and/or third-party AI, speech, hosting, or infrastructure providers to produce the requested result. Retention, training, and processing terms depend on the providers we use and our implementation.

RWriter processes only the information reasonably needed for the feature you request. The extension should not collect page or email content in the background unless that behavior is clearly disclosed, necessary, and authorized by you.

4. When We Share Information

We may share information with service providers that help us operate the Services, such as hosting, database, authentication, analytics, customer support, payment processing, email delivery, AI model, and speech-processing providers. They should receive only the information needed to perform services for us and be subject to appropriate contractual and security safeguards.

We may disclose information where required by law, to respond to valid legal process, to protect users or the public, to investigate fraud or security incidents, to enforce our terms, or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business.

We do not sell personal information for money. If RWriter uses advertising, analytics, or other technologies that constitute "selling," "sharing," or targeted advertising under applicable law, this Notice and any required opt-out controls will be updated accordingly.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies for essential operation, account sessions, security, preferences, analytics, or other disclosed purposes. You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect website functionality.

6. Third-Party Sign-In

If you choose to sign in through a third-party identity provider, we may receive information the provider makes available, such as your name, email address, profile image, or account identifier. We use it to authenticate you and operate your account. The provider's own privacy notice governs its independent processing.

7. International Data Transfers

RWriter and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers and provide further information about those safeguards upon request.

8. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, manage accounts and subscriptions, meet legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the Services. Retention periods vary by data type and purpose.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should protect their account credentials and use trusted devices and networks.

10. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent; or to opt out of certain advertising or data-sharing practices.

You may also be able to update account details, disconnect integrations, manage browser permissions, or stop using a feature through the product or browser settings. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request and may retain certain information where the law permits or requires it.

11. Browser and Do-Not-Track Controls

You can manage RWriter extension permissions through your browser's extension settings and can disable or uninstall the extension at any time. Browser Do-Not-Track signals are not consistently interpreted across the industry; RWriter does not respond to Do-Not-Track signals unless we state otherwise in an updated Notice.

12. Additional Information for California Residents

California residents may have rights under applicable California privacy laws, which can include the right to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain certain information and the right to opt out of certain sales or sharing of personal information. They may also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising applicable privacy rights.

The categories of information RWriter collects and discloses depend on the Services and integrations actually used. Requests can be sent using the contact details in Section 15.

13. Children's Privacy

RWriter is not intended for children who are not permitted to use the Services under applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children where parental consent or another legal basis is required. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact us so we can review the request.

14. Changes to This Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice to reflect changes in our Services, practices, or legal obligations. We will update the "Last updated" date and provide any additional notice required by law. Please review this page periodically.

15. Contact Us and Data Requests

For questions about this Notice or to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, contact us at the email address published on our website or through your account support channel.

16. Google, Gmail, and Other Connected Services

If RWriter uses Google APIs or another connected service, we request only the permissions needed for the features you enable. We explain when data is accessed, why it is needed, whether content is sent to AI or other providers, how long it is retained, and how you can disconnect access or revoke permissions.

If the browser extension reads content from an open webpage (for example, to summarize or reply to visible email text), that behavior is limited to what you trigger and what your browser extension permissions allow—not background collection unrelated to your request. If Google API data is used, we comply with applicable provider policies, including limited-use requirements where they apply.
